The purpose of this Job Description is to establish and define the authority, accountability, reporting relationships, responsibilities, duties, and measures of performance of Class A Truck Drivers of PJ’s Rebar, Inc., the Company.

1.0 INTRODUCTION

The purpose of this Job Description is to establish and define the authority, accountability, reporting relationships, responsibilities, duties, and measures of performance of Class A Truck Drivers of PJ’s Rebar, Inc., the Company.

2.0 REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

You will report directly to and are accountable to, the Transportation Manager. It is required and expected that you will comply with all reporting requirements that is put forth by PJ’s Rebar, Inc. and supplied to you by the Transportation Manager.

3.0 REQUIREMENTS:

3.1 Experience

3.1.1 Preferred: 2 years of job related experience.

3.2 Skills, Knowledge, Abilities

3.2.1 Must have the ability to accurately and timely fill out all forms requested by PJ’s Rebar, Inc..

3.3 Physical:

3.3.1 Body Positions:  Standing, sitting, and walking

3.3.2 Body Movements:  Carrying items, use of hands, eyes, arms and voice.

3.3.3 Able to lift 50 pounds

3.4 Mental:

3.4.1 Working knowledge and demonstrated skill with regard to: simple math, reading and writing English. Reading blueprints and specifications. Demonstrated knowledge of all tools and equipment used to perform the work.

3.5 Working Conditions:  Outdoors in a manufacturing environment.

4.0 AUTHORITY

4.1 You will be given the necessary authority to conduct, manage and administer your job duties as they pertain to the job.

5.0 DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  1. Transport deliveries locally or over the road according to manifest in a safe, responsible manner and in accordance with company procedures and applicable DOT regulations.
  2. Prepare a daily delivery schedule and coordinate efficient deliveries by applying knowledge of customer schedules, peak delivery times and alternate routes
  3. Apply knowledge and ability to safely load and unload deliveries according to size of load and content description.
  4. Process shipment documents neatly and efficiently for each shipment, and manage discrepancy documentation.
  5. Obtain and maintain proper delivery authorization and pickup documentation, and submit in a timely manner.
  6. Provide good customer service and maintain a professional manner and appearance to enhance the company's image.
  7. Perform a daily DOT pre-trip inspection according to checklist, and keep an accurate copy in the vehicle at all times.
  8. Maintain a daily, legible DOT log book and submit as required.
  9. Balance and handle an expense account for each trip by recording all expenses and maintaining all receipts.
  10. Provide basic maintenance for vehicle such as maintaining vehicle in a neat manner and performing minor repairs.
  11. Maintain company gas credit cards, and valid/current proof of insurance and registration in vehicle.
  12. Ensure proper maintenance of vehicle and report all accidents/damage/ malfunctions to management.
  13. Perform other related duties as assigned.

6.0 MEASUREMENTS OF PERFORMANCE

QUALITY OF WORK

(1) Control of consumables, ie. hard hats, gloves,  tie-wire, etc.              

(2) Reports, etc. are turned in on schedule. 

(3) Up keep of your machinery & equipment.

(4) Able to perform job with little or no supervision.

(5) Work area clean up:  Is done on daily basis.

(6) Comply with and obey all safety requirements and standards.

(7) Quality:  Little or no amount of re-work.
